Tough Guy by Hope Leedom Samson was picked up as a stray by the Lakeland, Florida ASPCA. He wasn't in the best of shape and had a tumor on his back. To say he was unlovely was an understatement. The ASPCA turned to Afghan Hound Rescue of Central Florida to place him after surgery to remove the tumor. They were sure he would be hard to place, but serendipity intervened. A Florida family that had contacted rescue at least 2 years before was still watching the web page for "their" perfect dog. And suddenly, there he was! A little ragged around the edges perhaps, but he was it. A big, happy blonde guy with not a mean bone in his body. Samson does like to play tough though. When he wants something, he bares his teeth and snaps. Try to imagine a teddy bear trying to act tough and you've got the picture. So far, he hasn't managed to scare anyone with his act, but nobody has told him that, so he's happy. Samson now shares his new home with two other Afghan Hounds who he hasn't fooled, either!
